David Ferrer has stoked supporters’ anticipation of seeing Rafael Nadal at the Davis Cup Finals, which will take place in Malaga in November.

In a news conference following his team’s victories against the Czech Republic, France, and Australia, the captain of Team Spain mentioned the prospect of the iconic 22-time Grand Slam champion joining his squad in the Finals in Malaga.

“I spoke with Rafa, but we don’t know anything yet. It is possible that he will join us in Malaga in November. This year, his ambition was to compete in the Olympics, but he gave up. He needed to recuperate and spend time with his family, therefore it was appropriate not to call him right now. I’ll chat with him later. The key thing is that he is healthy. If he arrives in good shape in November, he will undoubtedly be a guy we can rely on.

There is plenty of time to decide which team will play in Malaga. Now they have to concentrate on the tournaments. I’ve got a lot of good players to select from. It is both beneficial and negative: someone will have to be left out. At the moment, I am not really clear. I just know that this week they have brought me much delight,” he explained.

Ferrer commented on qualifying for the Malaga Finals, saying, “It’s a fantastic feeling; we played all of the matches extremely well, even if it wasn’t easy. They had a strong belief in themselves, and I could not be happier for them. These are extremely happy moments. I can only commend all of my players for believing in themselves and their tennis abilities. Happy for them and for me, this week in Valencia was a great memory that we will cherish forever. The term that best describes this team is courage. Courage for overcoming harsh circumstances. This outcome would not have been feasible without this level of excellence.”

Three victories to win the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga, placing top in Group B rankings. Spain defeated the Czech Republic, France, and Australia, winning seven out of nine matches. The final one, the deciding doubles match versus the Australians, proved crucial in winning the group. Pedro Martinez and Marcel Granollers defeated Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in a comeback with scores of 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Captain Ferrer expressed his pride in his teammates, noting that he could also rely on Carlos Alcaraz, and expressed hope that Rafa would play in the historic competition’s quarter-finals next November.
