Former Ipswich Town goalkeeper David Stockdale has embarked on his first managerial post as the first-team manager of Blyth Spartans.
Following Nolberto Solano’s departure, the 38-year-old took over as interim manager of the Spartans, but he now takes over permanently.
York City fired Stockdale in April after he combined playing duties with a role as the club’s head of recruitment.
He joined Croft Park this summer as Solano’s assistant manager, but was fired just three months later after a dismal start to the season.

The former goalkeeper has since overseen five matches, winning two of them.
The Northumberland club competes in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, England’s seventh division of football, and is presently ranked second from the bottom.

Regarding his appointment, he stated: “I’m absolutely happy!
“A lot of hard work has gone into this for the last 10 to 14 days, to like say the interview I did about bringing one team together and when I say one team it’s the whole club as we want the fans to come along with us.”
Stockdale joined the Blues on loan from Fulham for the first part of the 2011/12 season, appearing in 11 games.
