This is big for the Vols since three offensive weapons have returned.

The Tennessee Volunteers’ offense has been beat up early this season.

The injuries begin with Cameron Seldon, who was injured for the most of the offseason and missed week two after having limited availability in week one against Chattanooga.

Tennessee has also been without Mike Matthews, a five-star wide receiver and true freshman from Parkview High School in Georgia, and Braylon Staley, a four-star wide receiver from Storm Thurmond High School in South Carolina.

According to ON3’s Austin Price from VolQuest, the three offensive weapons have recovered from their injuries and will be ready for the Kent State game this weekend.

This is fantastic news for the Vols, who will now have more support than they did previously. The Vols’ running back room has relied primarily on star Dylan Sampson and backup running back DeSean Bishop. Bishop has done well as he has recovered from an injury that forced him to miss the 2023 season.

In terms of wide receivers, this simply adds more weapons to one of the roster’s deepest positions. Matthews has starter potential, and Staley will most likely play as a redshirt behind a slew of talented wide receivers.

If Matthews is limited in some games, you could consider him for a redshirt, but the former five-star is anticipated to be a significant factor for the Vols this season.

The Tennessee Vols are 49-point favorites in this game, but with these men certain to return, don’t be surprised if that number rises.
