Ben Radcliffe is heading out to the National League.

Ben Radcliffe, a Derby County prospect, will join National League promotion contenders Gateshead on loan until January.

The 20-year-old midfielder, who can also play defense, hopes to follow in the footsteps of Derby teammate Dajaune Brown, 18, who utilized a loan at Gateshead to break into Paul Warne’s first team plans.

Radcliffe has been playing for Jake Buxton’s under-21s this season, after joining from Burton Albion last year. He made his Derby debut in the EFL Trophy triumph over Lincoln a year ago.

Gateshead leads the National League, and Radcliffe is on the bench for this afternoon’s home game against Barnet.

Brown scored ten goals in 22 appearances for Gateshead last season and helped the club win the FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium, although he missed out on a play-off spot due to red tape surrounding the stadium lease.

A Derby statement read as follows: “The move will see Radcliffe gain more minutes in senior football and he has previous loan experience from his time on the books of Burton, where he had spells with Mickleover FC and Banbury United.”
