Barrow vs Derby County predictions for their Carabao Cup meeting on Tuesday evening.

Derby County go to Barrow this evening as the focus shifts back to the Carabao Cup after the last round of EFL play.

Derby County face a long travel to Cumbria following their most recent Championship away game against Watford.

The Rams took an early lead through Gambia international Ebou Adams, but Vakoun Bayo’s fantastic acrobatic attempt tied things up at halftime before Moussa Sissoko sealed a 2-1 triumph for the Hornets in the 76th minute.

Paul Warne’s side put up a valiant effort, but it was insufficient to build on their excellent 1-0 triumph over Middlesbrough. They’ll be trying to return to winning ways on their journey tonight.

Barrow, on the other hand, has had a promising start to their League Two season, winning two of their three fourth-tier games and progressing to the second round of the cup.

The Bluebirds put up a fantastic performance against recently relegated Port Vale, winning comfortably 4-0 with to goals from Gerard Garner, Emile Acquah, Kian Spence, and Dominic Telford.

It was their second win against the Valiants this season, after defeating them 3-2 in the first round of the Carabao Cup two weeks ago, and the prospect of hosting Derby County is sure to be appealing.

Here are our authors’ predictions for the game.

Jacob Hackett

“Derby County have been equipped with the underdog tag this season, though that will not be the case this evening when facing off against Barrow.

“In what is a rare meeting between the two sides, both outfits will feel capable of progressing to the next round although it is the Rams who are the clear favourites.

“The Bluebirds’ strong start to the season will have bred confidence within their camp, though the Rams’ victory over Chesterfield in the first round proves that the pressure of being the bigger side does not affect them.

“I do not expect to see a shedload of goals, however, I do think that it should be a fairly comfortable encounter for Warne’s men and that they should make it through to the third round.”

Prediction: Barrow 0-2 Derby County

James Ray

“Everyone knows to be wary of cup upsets and Derby County will be looking to avoid a banana skin here. Barrow have started their season promisingly and will be out to cause an upset against the Rams.

“However, I can’t see the visitors being beaten in this one. The gulf between the Championship and League One is a big one and that should be on show here.

“Warne will likely shuffle the ranks a bit and that could give the Bluebirds a route into the game.

“However, I’ll say this ends in a 3-0 away win.”

Prediction: Barrow 0-3 Derby County
