The Colts are making another reported cut, with Joel Erickson of the Indianapolis Star claiming that safety Marcel Dabo has been waived.

Erickson also said Dabo’s return to the practice squad is “likely.”

Dabo has been with the Colts since 2022 as an International Pathway Player (IPP) from Germany. For additional information about the IPP program, please go here.

“Established in 2017, the IPP program aims to provide elite international athletes with the opportunity to compete at the NFL level, improve their skills and ultimately work to earn a spot on an NFL roster.”

Dabo, an IPP, is on the Colts’ roster through an exception, allowing them to carry 91 players on the offseason roster. If he returns to the practice squad with the IPP exemption, the Colts can carry 17 players instead of the regular 16.

The limitation is that Dabo cannot be added to the 53-man roster as an IPP-designated player.

Dabo appeared in all three preseason games for the Colts this summer, totaling 28 defensive snaps and none on special teams. According to PFF, he had three total tackles and was not targeted in coverage. He spent experience in both free and strong safety.

Rosters must be reduced to 53 players by 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday. The Colts have eliminated 11 players from their roster thus far.
