Scott Loach is hanging up his gloves.

Derby County goalkeeper Scott Loach has stated that he would retire from professional football this summer.

The 36-year-old has stated that he hopes to pursue a coaching career in the future, but has yet to finalize a move.

Loach’s two-year stay with Derby has resulted in only three EFL Trophy appearances, but he has offered Derby with valuable dressing room knowledge.

The goalkeeper has had a journeyman career, playing for Watford, Hartlepool, Ipswich, Chesterfield Town, and Barnet, among others.

He has two promotions to his credit, one with Chesterfield from the National League in 2022 and one with the Rams this season.

Loach has over 470 career games and 14 caps for England’s under-21 team.

The Nottingham-born goalie has served as a mentor to Derby’s other goalkeepers while at Pride Park, and he has stated that he intends to become a goalkeeping coach after retirement.

He took to X to announce his retirement, saying: “I lived my dream and loved every minute of it; thank you to everyone who has supported me and given me the opportunity!

“I now have a new interest, coaching, and I’m excited to tackle it straight on! Much love! Up the goalkeepers. Loachy “x”.
