Michael Salisbury has been selected the referee for Manchester City’s Premier League match versus Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s team faces newly promoted Ipswich Town in their first home game of the 2024/25 season, with Manchester City hoping to make it two Premier League triumphs in a row after defeating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on the opening weekend.

Manchester City began their latest title defence with a crucial three points, defeating Enzo Maresca’s side 0-2 in west London, with goals from Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic.

Ipswich Town began their Premier League campaign with a 0-2 loss to Liverpool at Portman Road, thanks to quick second-half goals from Mo Salah and Diogo Jota.

This summer, Kieran McKenna’s team added two Manchester City players to their top-flight squad: Liam Delap on a permanent deal for £20 million and Kalvin Phillips on loan.

Manchester City’s summer addition Savinho might make his home debut against Ipswich this weekend, while Ilkay Gundogan, 33, could also play after agreeing to return to the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer from FC Barcelona.

The Premier League has confirmed the match officials for Saturday’s clash at the Etihad Stadium.

Match Referee

Michael Salisbury has been appointed referee for Manchester City’s Premier League match versus Ipswich at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The 39-year-old officiated 27 matches in the 2023/24 season, issuing 75 yellow cards and four red cards.

Salisbury last took charge of Manchester City in January, when the team won 0-5 against Huddersfield Town in the Emirates FA Cup.

Assistant Referees

Salisbury will be accompanied in east Manchester by Assistant Referees Richard West and Akil Howson.

Video Assistant Referees

Overviewing proceedings will be Video Assistant Referee David Coote and Assistant Video Assistant Referee Nick Greenhalgh.

Fourth Official

Sam Allison has been named as the Fourth Official.

The referee will be overseeing conduct within the two dugouts, and the behaviour of managers Pep Guardiola and Kieran McKenna.
