The youthful Rams defender attended the ceremony in Manchester, where a host of Premier League stars also turned out.

Eiran Cashin’s outstanding achievements for Derby County last season were recognized with a spot in the PFA League One squad of the year.

The centre-back played a key role in the Rams’ promotion to the Championship, their first in 17 years. Cashin and Curtis Nelson helped Derby finish the season with the strongest defense in the division, laying the groundwork for a great campaign.

His performances were recognized by his peers, who voted him into the League One team of the year, which was announced at an awards ceremony in Manchester.

Cashin attended the ceremony alongside teammate Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, who was nominated for League One Player of the Year, which was won by Alfie May.

Cashin, an academy product who signed a new long-term contract with the Rams earlier this year, appeared in all but two league games last season, missing the rest due to suspension and injury, and helped the team keep 21 of 22 clean sheets.

Last season, he was named Derby’s Sammy Crooks Young Player of the Season, as well as the EFL’s League One Team of the Season and Supporters’ Club Player of the Season.

One fan said on social media: “Well deserved! Eiran Cashin has made us all proud.” Another added: “Congratulations Cash, thoroughly deserved.”

PFA team of the Year (League One): Will Norris, Conor Shaughnessy, Marlon Pack, Colby Bishop, Eiran Cashin, Ricardo Santos, Josh Sheehan, Ronnie Edwards, Ephron Mason-Clark, Cameron Brannagan, Alfie May.
