Nottingham Forest presently has three goalkeepers battling for two positions in the matchday squad.

Matz Sels started in goal against Bournemouth, with Carlos Miguel on the bench.

Matt Turner is the current third choice and has been linked with Bundesliga clubs before the transfer season shuts.

Now, it appears like Forest may yet be able to recruit another goalkeeper before the deadline, which is a week on Friday.

Clearly, Forest will have to unload a stopper or two if another comes in, but there is one man who remains a target for the club.

Nottingham Forest still like Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale

The 26-year-old appears to be departing the Emirates Stadium this month, with David Raya the first choice at Arsenal.

Ramsdale lost his spot on the club last season, but Mikel Arteta decided to keep both stoppers ahead of a title shot.

Arsenal are set to recruit a number two, and TalkSPORT trade expert Alex Crook believes Forest are interested in Ramsdale.

He spoke live on TalkSPORT this morning: “We are aware that Wolves have received an offer of a loan deal with the option to buy. That has not yet been rejected, but sources close to Ramsdale tell me there is still a long way to go on that one.

“Southampton like him as well, and so do Nottingham Forest, so I think certainly he is one we are going to be talking about a lot in the next 10 days or so.”

Ramsdale could be game-changing signing for Forest

Okay, so adding a player like Ramsdale will not be cheap. Even if Arsenal loans him out, they will demand a large loan fee, because he earns £120,000 each week.

Naturally, it will complicate matters, but with Southampton and Wolves as alternative options for Ramsdale, Forest may have a chance.

Forest might be able to afford the loan price, pay the majority of his salaries, and then put plans in place to sign the goalie permanently next summer.

Ramsdale has extensive experience, having made 89 Arsenal games and preserving 32 clean sheets since joining from Bournemouth.

Forest might not have an immediate need for a new goalkeeper, but Ramsdale is head and shoulders above anything the Reds currently have.

If takers can be found for one or two of Forest’s current possibilities, signing the player is a no-brainer before the transfer window shuts.
