Last season, Nottingham Forest frequently clashed with referees, and manager Nuno Espirito Santo recently received a heavy fine for his comments regarding their integrity.

Nuno Espirito Santo claims he is trying not to complain about referees this season.

Last season, Nottingham Forest’s manager and the City Ground club were embroiled in a long-running dispute with officials. It put both the club’s manager and Forest in hot water.

Nuno received a £40,000 fine and a suspended one-game ban for comments doubting the referee’s integrity after a defeat against Everton. Following the game, the club issued a statement protesting about penalty decisions that did not go their way.

They also hired former top referee Mark Clattenburg to act as a liaison between them and the officials to clear up any misconceptions about rulings. When asked if his whining will continue, Nuno replied: “It’s a good question; I hope not, honestly.

“Some of you have known me for many years, but I always try not to. But I’m certain that the conversations we’ve had will improve things not only for Forest, but for the entire Premier League.

Last month, top tier officials met with representatives from the referees’ body to discuss VAR. VAR improvements include lowering game delays, improving training, and increasing decision transparency and communication.

Supporters should receive more information from on-screen messaging, with social media providing additional messages to help clarity. Nuno continued, “They are working hard to improve everywhere and trust the referees.

“I always said, and I told them at meetings, that the referees should make the judgments, not people who are so far away. “That was my main message.”

Nuno affirmed that the Profit and Sustainability difficulties that plagued the club in the second half of the season will not be a concern this season, as far as he is aware.

The former two-time European Champions were docked four points after being found guilty of violating the rules. However, the Portuguese stated, “As far as I am aware, I am not quite certain, but I believe we will be well. We’d had enough last season.

“It’s a huge relief. It is far easier to deal with things over which you have control. What we have control over is our team, our training sessions, and how we want to compete. That is all we want to worry about.

“It was there.” It was terrible for us to be involved in such a demanding endeavor since our arrival. The players were constantly concerned, wondering what the final decision would be. It was challenging. It is over, and we do not want to think about it anymore.”
