According to Bosse Andersson, the sporting director of Djurgårdens IF, the official announcement of Jacob Widell Zetterström’s signing with Derby County has yet to be made.

The goalkeeper has been linked with a move to the Championship team, with reports of a deal between the two clubs.

Andersson is hoping to keep the 26-year-old for this month’s Europa Conference League qualifications, but he has told Fotbollskanalen that he will go to England before the end of the month.

The Djurgårdens IF director confirmed that the player’s medical had been completed following his discussions with the Rams.

“We want him to leave after our European game, no later than August 29th. Jacob has been on site and done a medical examination and met with the club. What we haven’t really agreed on is when the transition will take place. We plan for Jacob to play today (against IFK Göteborg) and he will play the European games against Tampere,” said Andersson.

This week, it was revealed that Jacob Rinne has signed with the Swedish club, following recent reports that he would be the first option goalkeeper to replace Widell Zetterström.

Widell Zetterström is expected to sign for Derby County for around £2 million, with £660,000 in potential add-ons.

Zetterström has made 17 league appearances for his team this season and is under contract until June 2025. The Stockholm-born goalkeeper debuted for Sweden last year.
