Nottingham Forest are reportedly close to completing a deal for Talleres forward Ramón Sosa.

Forest has had a profitable period of business following the initial surge of deals – both incoming and exiting – to satisfy the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules.

Nuno Espirito Santo, head coach, has added a goalkeeper, centre-back, midfielder, and versatile attacker to his squad ahead of the new season.

Carlos Miguel, Nikola Milenkovic, Elliot Anderson, and Jota Silva will all compete for positions at the City Ground, adding talent and balance to the squad.

However, it appears that Forest are far from finished in the market, with another player for the last third on the verge of signing.

Sosa to sign this week

According to The Telegraph, Forest have all but won the race to sign Sosa, who has been linked with several Premier League clubs since the end of last season.

The Paraguay international has been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City, but it appears that he will shortly join Forest.

According to the report, Talleres has decided to sell one of its main players for a cost of £11 million following long conversations between the parties involved.

Sosa is expected to undergo a medical in the next 48 hours and might be unveiled when Forest meet Bournemouth at the City Ground on Saturday lunchtime.

Will Sosa immediately challenge for a first-team role?

Forest already have a formidable offensive lineup, with Jota set to compete for a wide slot alongside Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

When healthy, Morgan Gibbs-White is a lock for the center spot, but the 24-year-old Sosa is versatile and can play in all three spots.

Sosa recently contributed one goal and one assist in three Copa America games, and he has seven goals and six assists in 21 appearances for Talleres in 2024.

In the near term, however, he may only be considered a backup option as he adjusts to English football, with a possible debut in the EFL Cup second round later this month.
