Following Monday’s training camp practice, Andy Reid provided positive updates on Hollywood Brown and McKade Mettauer’s rehabilitation timeframes.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw many key players return to practice on Monday in St. Joseph, Missouri, before head coach Andy Reid revealed some important information about the Chiefs who remained out just two days after their preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Reid began with the most recent update on wide receiver Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, who suffered a sternoclavicular dislocation on the first play of Saturday’s game. Reid confirmed two positive updates on Brown’s rehabilitation.

“They were able to get the joint back into place without surgery, which is a positive,” Mr. Reid added. “And then we’ll see about the recovery. He’s back in Kansas City now; he stayed in Jacksonville while they got that thing set up.”

Reid had even better news for safety Bryan Cook, who was absent from Monday’s practice unexpectedly.

“Yes, he was not there; personal matters,” Reid explained before divulging the cause for Cook’s absence. “Baby on the way.”

On Monday, Reid reported that running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was sick, and that defensive tackle Chris Jones (shoulder) and wide receiver Jaaron Hayek (shoulder) are both “making progress” in their recovery. Reid said offensive lineman Wanya Morris has a bone bruise on his knee.

McKade Mettauer, a rookie undrafted free agency offensive lineman, exited Saturday’s Jaguars game with a knee injury, but Reid indicated on Monday that he escaped the worst-case scenario.

“McKade had a tear in the MCL, it wasn’t the ACL, so that’s a positive,” claimed Reid. “No surgery is required; we’ll just monitor how he goes here over the next several days, and how that gadget functions. It could be longer than that, but we’ll see.

Reid only noted the return of safety Justin Reid and linebacker Nick Bolton, who took part in Monday’s non-padded practice after missing much of training camp.
