The Tennessee Volunteers appear to be on the verge of making another major recruiting impact.

On3’s Steve Wiltfong projected on Friday that 2025 five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. will pledge to Tennessee on August 17 when he makes his decision.

Chad Simmons, another On3 recruiting analyst, has predicted that Tennessee will land Sanders

Wiltfong stated that Sanders’ bond with Tennessee’s current commits is a significant aspect working in the Vols’ favor.

“Sanders relationship with the Tennessee’s current commits is the best of his finalists,” tweeted Wiltfong. “The time spent around the coaching staff, he feels he can be developed by position coach Glen Elarbee similar to that of Darnell Wright.”

Sanders, 6-foot-6/290 pounds from Charlotte, North Carolina, is the No. 1 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports’ aggregate rankings. This is the type of player with top-five NFL draft prospects.

Tennessee currently possesses the nation’s No. 8 2025 recruiting class. Landing Sanders might elevate Tennessee’s class to the top five.
