Nottingham Forest is pleased to announce that Jamie McDonnell has signed a new two-year contract, with the club having an option for another year.

McDonnell was a mainstay for the B Team in the 2023/24 season, captaining them on 22 occasions, including both PL2 play-off games.

His performances have garnered him international notice, as he was named to Northern Ireland’s U21 side for the Euro 2025 qualifying tournament.

The teenage midfielder, who joined Forest in 2020, has also had some first-team experience with the Reds, appearing in the matchday squad in January for both the FA Cup at Blackpool and the Premier League at Brentford.

McDonnell stated, “I’m delighted to extend my stay at the Club, continuing the journey I’ve been on for the past four years.”

“Having progressed through the age groups from the U18s to the B Team and also getting experience of being around the first team, I’m looking forward to pushing on and trying to eventually establish myself within the Forest first team.”

Chris McGuane, Head of Academy, commented, “Jamie continues to improve as a player and as a leader within the B Team.

“He is a well-respected member of the team, and his professionalism on and off the field has earned him this new contract. We look forward to seeing him improve as a player as he strives to take the next step.”
