Despite Nottingham Forest being in the middle of a friendly versus Olympiacos, Fabrizio Romano has just announced some major transfer news.

Nuno Espirito Santo has had a busy summer of moves at the City Ground, signing six new players already.

However, Forest are not content to stop there, with the Reds now attempting to get signing number seven through the door ahead of the season opening.

Nuno’s side is now just a week away from starting the 2024/25 season at home against Bournemouth.

And it appears that a slew of fresh faces will be on exhibit for the Reds when the season begins next Saturday.

But there is one player in particular for whom Forest has placed a formal proposal.

Fabrizio Romano issues Nottingham Forest transfer update

Given the business that takes on at the City Ground, Nuno must be overjoyed with the support he has gotten this summer.

Evangelos Marinakis has not only offered him the players he requires to strengthen his team, but he has also brought them in ahead of the new season

And the vast majority of those six signings were able to accompany the squad on its pre-season vacation to Spain, where team bonding would have been critical.

According to Romano, Forest have just had a bid rejected by Porto for the services of Brazilian winger Galeno.

The Reds’ interest remains strong after having their bid rejected, but they face stiff competition from Juventus.

According to reports, the Portuguese club has placed a €40 million (£34 million) price tag for their Brazilian winger this summer, forcing Forest to restart their search.

Forest could land another Brazilian in Galeno

The 26-year-old had a fantastic 2023/24 season with Porto, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists in the league alone.

The Brazilian winger also contributed five goals and three assists throughout their Champions League campaign.

With Juventus also interested, it is evident that he is a player who is highly regarded around Europe, which is not surprising given his performance in the Champions League.

Forest face stiff competition in the wide spots, but signing a player like Galeno would be a clear statement of the club’s intentions for the new season.

However, the cynics may argue that it could pave the way for a major exit, with Newcastle United interested in Anthony Elanga.
