Nick Foles, former Indianapolis Colts quarterback, announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday.

After 11 seasons in the NFL, playing for seven different teams, the one-time Pro Bowl selection and Super Bowl LII MVP has decided to retire.

Foles spent the 2022 season with the Colts, his final regular season game in the NFL.

Though Matt Ryan began the season as the Colts’ starting quarterback, their extraordinary troubles led to the resignation of head coach Frank Reich halfway through the season.

Just before Reich was fired, Ryan was benched due to a shoulder ailment, and Sam Ehlinger was declared as the starter. Ryan returned to the starting lineup after Reich was sacked, this time under interim coach Jeff Saturday.

However, following the Colts’ historic loss to the Minnesota Vikings, in which they blew a 33-0 lead, Saturday designated Foles as starting for the next three games of the season.

Foles had two starts before being injured with a sack against the New York Giants in Week 17. The Colts released Foles in the next offseason.

Foles, a former third-round choice in the 2012 NFL Draft, spent three seasons with the Eagles before being traded to the St. Louis Rams in 2015.

In 2013, during his second season and ninth start of his career, Foles tied the single-game NFL record for touchdown passes with seven.

He is best remembered for leading the Eagles to victory in Super Bowl LII after taking over for starter Carson Wentz, who suffered a torn ACL in Week 14.

Foles also played for the St. Louis Rams (2015), Kansas City Chiefs (2016), Philadelphia Eagles (2017-2018), Jacksonville Jaguars (2019), and Chicago Bears (2020-2021).
