The Atlanta Braves have had the same manager since 2016, but that could change in the near future.

On Wednesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post claimed that Atlanta’s decorated leader Brian Snitker may retire when his contract expires at the end of next season.

“There’s a decent chance that (Snitker) will manage out his contract next year and retire after next year,” according to Heyman.

Snitker, 68, has enjoyed a successful tenure in Atlanta, winning National League Manager of the Year in 2018 and then a World Series triumph in 2021.

Snitker was the Braves’ third-base coach from 2007 to 2013 before becoming manager of Atlanta’s Triple-A team, the Gwinnett Braves.

Snitker was named the Atlanta Braves’ interim manager in May 2016, replacing the dismissed Fredi González. In October 2016, Atlanta removed Snitker’s interim tag and announced that he will be the full-time manager going forward.

Since then, Snitker has presided over another successful period in the Braves’ illustrious history.

At the moment, Snitker is optimistic that this year’s Braves, led by Marcell Ozuna, can secure their NL Wild Card spot and make a significant playoff push.
