The Kansas City Chiefs have sustained their first big injury of the preseason, but the 18-year-old daughter of team owner Clark Hunt is recovering after emergency surgery.

Ava Hunt, the youngest daughter of Chiefs owner Clark and his beauty-queen wife Tavia, was seriously injured after falling on a mountain walk last week. As a result, she has had a successful surgery.

“This little thang fell down the mountain today on a hike [and] went to the ER for surgery on a deep wound,” Tavia wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a cheerful photo of herself and Ava. ‘It’s been a long day. Thank God she’s in recovery and already smiling. Please pray for a rapid and thorough recovery!’

The SMU cheerleader is already making an effort to smile despite the difficult circumstances.

After being released from the hospital, she relaxed on the couch while watching Simone Biles’ highlights from the ongoing Paris Olympics.

‘Update: operation went really well, and I’m back home watching my fave @simonebiles!!’ She wrote on Instagram.

The accompanying image depicts Biles’ balance-beam routine on a television in the backdrop, hovering over Ava’s wrapped and elevated leg.

‘I’m feeling terrific (though I may still be a little doped up),’ she added. “Thank you for all of your sweet messages and prayers.”

It’s unknown whether the injury will affect her position on SMU’s cheerleading squad. She is now listed as a team member on the group’s Instagram profile.

Ava is the youngest child of Clark, 59, and Tavia, 53. Her older sister, Gracie, followed in their mother’s footsteps and won Miss Kansas in 2021.

Clark is the grandson of oil mogul H.L. Hunt and the son of Lamar, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who helped start the former AFL. Lamar’s name continues to appear on the AFC championship trophy.

Clark and Lamar, like Ava, attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Clark, the owner of the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, is projected to be worth $1.4 billion, with the family’s total wealth at $24.8 billion, according to Forbes.

The Hunt group, the family’s organization, also manages MLS club FC Dallas.
