Following a successful rookie season, the second-year wide out is anticipated to play an important role in the offense.
Josh Downs, the Indianapolis Colts’ second-year standout wide receiver, departed Wednesday’s training camp practice with an apparent leg injury after being put to the ground in a 7-on-7 drill by free safety Nick Cross, various reports say.
Colts coach Shane Steichen chastised Cross for the play, and Downs had to be assisted off the field since he could not put any weight on his wounded leg.

Downs was expected to be an important part of the offense entering his second season as a professional. Assuming Downs’ leg injury is not as serious as it appears, he will undoubtedly continue to play a key role in the Colts’ offense.
Last season, Downs caught 68 catches on 98 targets for 771 yards and two scores as a rookie. He averaged 11.3 yards per reception out of the slot for Indianapolis’ rising unit.
