Ipswich Town skipper Sam Morsy has signed a new deal with the club that will last until 2026.

The midfielder, who joined the Tractor Boys from Middlesbrough in 2021, has 10 goals in 131 games for the club.

Morsy was chosen club captain shortly after his arrival from the northeast of England, and he has helped Kieran McKenna’s team win back-to-back promotions in the last two seasons.

“I’m going into my fourth season at the club now and we’ve had unprecedented success during the last two years, which is something I’m honoured to have been involved in,” Morsy told the crowd.

“It’s great to feel the club and the manager’s commitment to me at such an exciting time for everyone, as we prepare for what is the biggest challenge of them all.”

Ipswich were promoted from the Championship last season, therefore they will play in the Premier League for the first time since 2002.

“The leadership he [Morsy] has shown has been key in building a strong culture, which underpins everything we do,” McKenna told reporters.

“I know Sam is excited to now have the opportunity to test himself at the highest level of the game.”

On the first weekend of the 2024-25 Premier League season, Ipswich Town will host Liverpool on August 17.
