Ross Kivett has returned to the Tennessee Volunteers baseball team as a staff member.

Since winning the 2024 national championship, the Tennessee Volunteers have been preparing for the upcoming season to defend their crown. They have made various updates to the gateway, had a couple of players declare their return, and have now added to their staff. Ross Kivett, a former Tennessee assistant, will return to the program as an assistant head coach.

Kivett, who spent four years as a volunteer assistant coach on Tony Vitello’s staff, has been an assistant coach at Houston for the last three seasons. He was Houston’s hitting coach, infielders coach, and recruiting coordinator before being named assistant head coach. During the 2023 season, Kivett built on the hitting foundation he established in 2022. In just one season, Houston’s hitters increased their home run total by over a dozen, reaching 73 for the first time since 2000.

Kivett helped propel the Volunteers to a record-breaking 50-18 season in 2021, culminating in the program’s first College World Series appearance and first since 2005. He was a key member of Vitellos’ staff and is a significant addition to the program following a national championship season.

He was part of the coaching team that guided Tennessee to the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional in 2019, marking the program’s first NCAA Tournament trip since 2005. The Vols went 40-21 overall and 14-16 in SEC play, finishing third in the Eastern Division, their best finish since 2005.
