Birmingham City are interested in a striker who spent last season on loan in the Championship and scored eleven goals, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Blues are not afraid to spend money, as seen by their recent £500,000 signing of midfielder Marc Leonard.

Chris Davies is determined to make Birmingham’s stint in League One as brief as possible, and he wants firepower to propel them out of the division.

Birmingham are currently looking at Ike Ugbo, who scored eleven goals while on loan at Cardiff City and Sheffield Wednesday last season.

He made a significant role to Sheffield Wednesday’s success, and the club is eager to re-sign him this summer, but the asking price is a concern.

Ugbo is valued at £4.5 million by his current club Troyes, although interested parties will try to lower that number.

Birmingham’s main battle with Ugbo, it is suggested, may be to persuade him to drop into League One.

The striker progressed through Chelsea’s development system and spent several loan spells away from Stamford Bridge before joining Genk permanently.
