Lewis O’Brien, a Nottingham Forest midfielder, has agreed to join Los Angeles FC of Major League Soccer, according to reports.

The 25-year-old is flying to the United States to finalize a loan move.

O’Brien is about to complete his third loan move since joining Nottingham Forest from Huddersfield in 2022.

The midfielder has previous MLS experience, having spent four months with DC United in 2023.

He spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Championship side Middlesbrough, which finished eighth in the second division under Michael Carrick.

O’Brien made 25 appearances for Boro in all competitions, starting 19 of them and contributing one assist.

O’Brien set to leave Nottingham Forest for LAFC

Since joining Forest, the left-footer has played 17 games, 13 of which have been in the Premier League.

His contract at City Ground continues until June 2026.

O’Brien, who graduated from Huddersfield’s academy, can play both center midfield and holding position

Nottingham Forest have lost seven players this summer, including Moussa Niakhate and Orel Mangala.

Scott McKenna and Cheikhou Kouyate, for example, have both left on free transfers when their contracts expired.

LAFC is presently second in the MLS’ Western Conference, with the regular season running until October.
