Nottingham Forest received a huge boost on Thursday as a result of recent news about one of their players’ futures.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team has had a fantastic start to the summer, with five new signings.

Forest have not only strengthened their roster for the next season, but they have also been able to balance the books against PSR.

The sales of Orel Mangala and Moussa Niakhate proved vital last month, allowing the Reds to avoid any further penalties this season.

On Thursday afternoon, more good news was given, when one of their key players signed a new contract.

Nottingham Forest player signs new deal until 2028

Forest has had a hectic few weeks, and while they performed admirably throughout the transfer window, they have now completed some internal business.

Several Forest players are nearing the end of their 12-month contract.

However, the Reds have recently confirmed that at least one of these players will be around for another four years.

According to The Athletic, Ryan Yates has recently signed a new contract at the City Ground that will extend his stay until 2028.

The midfielder’s contract was slated to expire next summer, but he has already signed a new and improved agreement.

Yates played an important part in Forest’s 2023/24 season, captaining the team and making 35 Premier League matches.

Yates, who rose through the ranks at the City Ground, also gives Nuno with a homegrown member of the club, which is critical when it comes to adhering to Premier League criteria.

What Gary Brazil previously said about Ryan Yates

Yates has established himself as a valuable member of the Forest side, as evidenced by his performances on matchdays.

The 26-year-old is the player who dictates the pace in the middle of the park and frequently finds himself mastering the dark arts.

As an academy product, Yates understands how essential it is to give the supporters their all on matchday, but former Forest academy boss Gary Brazil also praised his off-the-field abilities.

“Character is what brings forth the most in talent. Ryan embodies all of the characteristics necessary to realize his full potential. “(He’s a) unique individual,” he previously told The Athletic.

Here’s to another four years of Yates.
