Birmingham City Football Club has apologised to fans after many had difficulty accessing the stadium on Wednesday night.

The club stated that a huge number of Blues fans were inconvenienced because not all tickets arrived in the mail, and print-at-home tickets had a corrupt barcode.

This means that the new turnstile system didn’t recognize the tickets.

A statement clarified: “The club would like to apologise to supporters for the inconvenience and thank them all for their understanding and good humour while the issue was resolved.”

They added that the club hoped fans enjoyed the Blues’ performance on the pitch, which saw them defeat Rangers 2-1 in the Trevor Francis Memorial Match.

While the club advertised tickets for Saturday and Sunday, it stated that “some were not fulfilled”.

The club further stated that an operation override was implemented once the problem with corrupt barcodes was discovered.

A spokeswoman clarified: “To avoid this problem happening in the future, the club have now disabled print-at-home tickets and going forward, we will only use digital tickets or paper tickets collected at the Stadium.”

The club stated that it would contact supporters who had acquired print-at-home tickets for the preseason game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, August 3.

Supporters are being requested to attend early for the match, which starts at 15:00 BST, to ensure that everyone arrives on time.
