A well-known person arrived at Grand Park to join the Colts for their first day of training camp.

Indianapolis signed former first-round wide receiver Laquon Treadwell on Wednesday.

Treadwell’s name recognition, however, will make it difficult for him to break into the Indianapolis offense.

Treadwell, a star at Ole Miss, has failed to recreate his college success in eight seasons in the NFL.

Treadwell, who was drafted by Minnesota with the 23rd choice in the 2016 draft, has never had more than 35 catches or 434 receiving yards in a season, has only had 20 catches three times, and hasn’t played more than six games in a season since a great year with Jacksonville in 2021.

Treadwell played five games for Baltimore in 2023, catching one pass for 16 yards in the season finale against Pittsburgh.

The 29-year-old will face a crowded receiver room in Indianapolis.

Michael Pittman Jr. remains the team’s No. 1 after signing a lucrative contract extension in the offseason; Josh Downs is the slot starter; Adonai Mitchell and Alec Pierce are a pair of second-rounders vying for the No. 3 spot; Ashton Dulin is a versatile weapon on his way back; and fifth-round rookie Anthony Gould is a candidate for the return job.

Treadwell will compete for a position on the offense, replacing undrafted free agent Xavier White, a Texas Tech graduate who was released to create room for the move.
