The BYU football program has focused on developing a new and enhanced strength and conditioning program.
Players all throughout the roster have reshaped their bodies to meet the physical demands of Power Four football. Last year’s Big 12 league schedule was physically demanding on BYU. The Cougars struggled in the trenches on both sides of the ball, particularly during the run game. Kalani Sitake and his staff have spoken publicly about the Big 12’s physicality and how much BYU needs to improve in that area. Strength, fitness, and nutrition regimens are critical components in addressing that shortfall.
BYU has made significant investments in strength and nutrition since accepting an invitation to join the Big 12 in 2021.
The BYU football roster features 73 returning players, 40 of whom have gained at least five pounds since the end of last season. Here’s a list of 40 players who’ve gained at least five pounds since 2023.
