Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has explained why Nathan Broadhead and Axel Tuanzebe are not with their teammates in Austria this week.

Last Sunday, the Blues traveled off for a week-long training camp, but forward Broadhead and defender Tuanzebe did not accompany the team.

Broadhead was sighted in Wales Friday night, watching Connah’s Quay Nomads lose to Slovakian club Bravo in Europa Conference League qualifiers.

“Nathan suffered an injury in a behind-closed-doors friendly we played last week,” McKenna told TownTV.

“He needs to consult an expert to assess the seriousness of the situation. That’s disappointing, of course.”

The manager kept going: “Axel stayed at home for a personal reason, but hopefully, all being well, will be back with us next week.”

McKenna also disclosed that right-back Harry Clarke (Achilles) and striker Ali Al-Hamadi (adductor) are’still in the healing process’ after recent surgery.

He also revealed that midfielder Cameron Humphreys has a minor injury, while Janoi Donacien, whose contract with Ipswich terminated recently, practiced with the team in the first half of this week.

Ipswich will play two 60-minute friendly matches against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk tomorrow afternoon.
