Birmingham City are close to signing Go Ahead Eagles midfielder Willum Thór Willumsson.

According to De Telegraaf, the 25-year-old is expected to become the latest player to leave the Dutch club this summer.

According to the publication, after coach René Hake, captain Bas Kuipers, and midfielder Philippe Rommens have all left, the Go-Ahead Eagles will lose another key member.

According to English reports, the Icelandic midfielder is poised to join Birmingham from Go Ahead.
According to them, Willumsson is believed to cost Birmingham €1.5 million as they want to bolster their squad this summer in preparation for an immediate return to the Championship.

After last season’s setback, they have ‘huge ambitions’ for the future, and Willumsson will be a part of that.

A deal appears to be in place, and De Telegraaf believes he will be at St Andrew’s sooner rather than later, however contract specifics have not been disclosed at this time.

That’s something to keep an eye out for, as a medical at Birmingham is almost certainly scheduled soon now that the two clubs have reached an agreement.
