U.S. Open qualifier Mac Clark of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has verbally committed to the University of Tennessee for the 2025-26 season and beyond.

He will join Mike McCarthy and Jake McCoy in Knoxville as part of the Vols’ Class of 2029.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic careers at the University of Tennessee. I’d like to thank my family, coaches, friends, and teammates for helping me reach this point. I also want to give a special thanks to all of the coaches at Tennessee for extending me the opportunity to be a Vol. Can’t wait to get to Rocky Top! Go Vols!”

Clark swims for Team Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics and won the 400m free, 800m free, 1500m free, and 400m individual medley at the ISCA International Senior Cup in March. He finished 11th in the mile at Juniors East last winter after running three races at the Toyota U.S. Open.

Clark also has multiple Allegheny Mountain LSC records. One of these is the boys’ 15-16 1000 free, which had been the LSC’s oldest short course yards record for more than a decade until he beat it in 2023.

His best times include:

  • 500 free – 4:25.26
  • 1000 free – 9:07.23
  • 1650 free – 15:18.12
  • 400 IM – 3:58.29

Clark, a rising senior at Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School, finished third in the 500 freestyle and tenth in the 200 freestyle at the 2024 Pennsylvania 3A State Championship. During his sophomore season, he placed sixth and fifteenth in those races.
