Nottingham Forest have reached a critical point in the summer transfer season, with attention seemingly shifting to the next chapter.

Nuno Espirito Santo expressed his desire for more signings before the deadline. “We have some signings, and the squad is not yet complete. “We still have things to decide,” he remarked. “We are working with players who have been on loan; we have to have a good look at them and make the right decisions for them.”

The manager also emphasized the significance of keeping individuals who are already at the club, demonstrating that the focus is now squarely on the season’s start in one month rather than any financial ramifications that may have driven a frenzy of transactions earlier this summer.

With that said, Nottinghamshire Live gives you the latest from the City Ground during this busy week of news and transfer speculation…

Magpies persist with Anthony Elanga

According to The Athletic, Newcastle United are still interested in Forest winger Anthony Elanga.

At the end of June, when both teams were racing to comply with Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), talks arose about the winger’s move to Tyneside for a fee, while Yankuba Minteh would have gone the other way in identical circumstances. As it turned out, nothing came of it, with Forest selling other businesses and Minteh moving to Brighton.

However, developments have only highlighted Newcastle’s need to bolster the right side of their attack, therefore Elanga is still on their radar. Alternatively, Chelsea’s Noni Madueke and West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen are being discussed internally.

Djed Spence on the move

Djed Spence is poised to depart Tottenham Hotspur permanently this summer.

When his Forest loan expired two years ago, the former City Ground promotion hero negotiated a move to North London, which proved to be a costly decision. He was fired by his coaches and sent on loan to Genoa last season, where a permanent move fell through lately.

The Athletic’s report on Elanga’s status says that the full-back is one of a few names Ange Postecoglou and Co will almost surely move on before September’s deadline – there is just no indication of where that could be.
