On Wednesday, Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies hit a foul ball into one of the worst possible places.

In the fifth inning of a 3-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants, Albies hit a foul ball into his own dugout, where it made direct contact with Braves manager Brian Snitker’s groin. Fortunately, the 68-year-old appeared unharmed, even cracking a smile after the impact.

The Braves radio booth of Brandon Gaudin and C.J. Nitkowski at least had some fun with the event, once they recognized what had happened:

“Ooh, look out. That hit Brian Snitker. He’s OK, but that bounced right into his belly … Oh, no. Not on the belly. Never mind. That’s a different kind of belly.”

“Belt buckle. Hopefully.”

“Does a manager wear a cup?”

When asked if he was okay after the game, Snitker responded with a lighthearted “next question” before remarking, “I told Ozzie I took his best ball.”

Aside from that one stroke, the Braves played pretty well. Starting pitcher Chris Sale maintained his stellar first half performance with six innings, three hits allowed, one earned run, and nine strikeouts, while the bullpen combined for three innings of one-run ball.

Adam Duvall and Austin Riley drove in all of Atlanta’s runs with one RBI double each, with Duvall contributing three hits. The win brings the Braves’ record to 47-37, putting them in the top NL wild-card spot and nine games behind the first-place Philadelphia Phillies in the NL East.
