Will the Browns try to trade for a Derrick Henry or Jerry Jeudy? Hey, Mary Kay!
|In the current Hey, Mary Kay! episode! Regarding Derrick Henry, Jerry Jeudy, Jacoby Brissett, and other topics, I respond to Browns’ inquiries.
Hello, Ms. Kay Will Derrick Henry or another well-known running back be pursued by the Browns? — Zachary Brosky
Zachary, hi: At the trade deadline on October 31, Browns general manager Andrew Berry is usually highly shrewd and ready to either add players to his roster or get picks by dealing away some excess players. The Browns didn’t appear ready to make an impression as of last week, but that was before it was revealed that Deshaun Watson will lose additional time due to a rotator cuff injury.
Now that Henry’s contract is up after this season, the Browns may have to look at a seasoned backup quarterback in addition to a running back of Henry’s caliber. However, Henry would only be a half-season rental. Furthermore, running backs begin to lose footing around the age of thirty, which he will reach in January. They might not want to give up a lot of salary cap space or draft capital for a back who is almost thirty. The Titans do not intend to move Henry, according to NFL Network’s Sarturday report. However, nearly everyone has a cost.
Although 26-year-old Saquon Barkley is a promising prospect and the second overall pick in 2018, Giants coach Brian Daboll has stated that Barkley will not be moved.
Would the Browns be open to making a trade for Jerry Jeudy, a receiver for the Broncos?
Jeudy might be one of the receivers the Browns contact before the trade deadline because they showed interest in him over the offseason before to trading for Elijah Moore. On sometimes, you may happen to snag a desired player on your second or third try.
A 2020 first-round pick by the Broncos out of Alabama, Jeudy caught 67 passes for 972 yards and 6 touchdowns in his most recent season. He is a wide receiver worthy of a Pro Bowl, and the Browns should be seeking to add him to their offensive line. The Broncos, who are currently 2-5, may be open to trading him. The Broncos have “a good offer” for Jeudy, but they’re not ready to take it, according to a report from Pro Football Talk on Saturday. While it’s uncertain, it’s probable that it’s from the Browns.
Despite having 25 catches for 286 yards this season, Jeudy (6-1, 193) has not yet found the end zone. In addition, his young age of 24 and the fact that he has a contract for the upcoming season that will pay his reasonable $12.987 million fifth-year option make him a trade candidate. such extension would accompany such acquisition, but he’s most likely worth it. The Browns need another elite wide receiver, and Jeudy needs a change of scenery.
Hey, Mary Kay: Will the Browns sign a veteran quarterback?
Hey, @KingJamesAOC: I don’t know if the Browns will actually pull the trigger on a veteran quarterback, but I’m sure they’ll at least inquire about some with so much uncertainty over Deshaun Watson’s strained right rotator cuff. I’ve written that they should pursue former Browns QB Jacoby Brissett, now the backup to Sam Howell in Washington, but I don’t get the sense they’re clamoring to do that.
Hey, Mary Kay: Will Dorian Thompson-Robinson get another chance? I feel he got the short end of the stick by having to go up against a top-rated Ravens team, with a couple hours notice and without any real preparation. He looks to have much more talent and promise than P.J. Walker
In the meantime, he’ll continue to study and practice hard, and the game will slow down for him. The Browns like his strong arm, excellent processing speed and mobility. If he’s pressed into service again this season, I think he’ll fare much better.
