West Ham have made contact with £25 million player for free
He’s received praise from a number of high-profile managers.
West Ham United reportedly made their initial approach to sign a £25 million free agent.
West Ham eyeing more signings after Guilherme
The Julen Lopetegui era may not yet be starting on the training ground, but it is on the transfer market. The Hammers and technical director Tim Steidten have already made their first summer signing, Brazilian youth Luis Guilherme, who joins from Palmeiras for a large fee.
The Irons don’t appear to be stopping there, with plenty of attacking targets lined up after Guilherme, including a reported bid for Colombian striker Jhon Arias and an approach to Celta Vigo attacker Jorgen Strand Larsen, as well as rumours about Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling and Juventus’ Matias Soule.
All of those players might cost high sums, but it looks that West Ham are also looking for free moves.
For example, Luton Town goalkeeper Tim Krul has surfaced as a recent target, with the possibility of stepping in as a second choice at the London Stadium if his contract expires at the end of this month.
German defender Mats Hummels has also been linked with a move to the Hammers, with his representatives already in discussions with those at the London Stadium. Now, it appears that the team has made a move for another free agent.
West Ham make Ryan Sessegnon contact
According to The Guardian, West Ham has made first contact on a desire to recruit Ryan Sessegnon following his departure from Tottenham.
Tottenham paid £25 million for Fulham’s left-back in 2019, but he is currently without a club following an injury-plagued tenure in north London. He could stay in London, however, as West Ham and his former club Fulham appear to be interested in making a trade. Lopetegui wants competition for Emerson Palmieri, and West Ham believe Sessegnon could be a bargain signing.
As can be seen, Sesesgnon’s injury problems hampered his time at Tottenham, but if he can stay healthy, West Ham will be signing a 24-year-old who has gotten a lot of praise during his career.
Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho rated him as “absolutely fantastic,” while Antonio Conte praised Sessegnon as a “dependable” and “important” player during his spell. “He is a dependable player who exudes confidence. He is physically strong and has progressed in both quality and technique.
Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has also termed the Englishman “incredible” and, by the sounds of things, a move to the London Stadium is a possibility with contact now made from Hammers officials.
