It appears like Ipswich Town have joined the hunt for Panathinaikos forward Fotis Ioannidis.
That was reported by Greek media and is now being covered in Portugal, where A Bola headlines the attempt.
It is claimed that Ipswich made a €22.5 million approach for Ioannidis, which was turned down by the Greek club.
An important feature is that €20 million is expected to be enough to land the striker; nevertheless, the English club’s offer was too reliant on transfer bonuses, which was not welcomed.
Sporting, who have been following Ioannidis for a while, are now more convinced that they can win this race because they can raise close to €20 million without relying on add-ons.
The Lions are set to send their fresh offer to Panathinaikos this week, and Ipswich could respond with a new bid.
Lille was the other team in this tournament, but because they were turned down by the player, they are unlikely to pursue him further.
