Leeds United would want to get Joe Rodon on a permanent deal from Tottenham this summer, but his performances this season suggest he is worth a shot in the Premier League, particularly with Ipswich Town.

Daniel Farke will have to rouse his squad for a second promotion campaign next season, since the 90-point haul accumulated last season was insufficient for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Ipswich Town and Leicester City finished ahead of Leeds, while fourth-place Southampton advanced through the playoffs.

Leeds will try for Joe Rodon on permanent deal this summer

One of Leeds’ most impressive additions was Welsh international Joe Rodon, who joined on loan from Tottenham for the season.

The towering defender earned the hearts of Leeds supporters with passionate, confident defensive performances, while also seeming elegant in possession for the most part.

It wasn’t enough for promotion, but Leeds are set to make a bid to sign the defender this summer, with 12 months remaining on his contract in North London and Ange Postecoglou unwilling to give him an opportunity at Spurs.

Journalist shares Rodon update, Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna a big fan

Ipswich Town are going to need extensive changes to their squad to compete in the top division, as the three swiftly relegated sides shown in 2024, and Rodon might be one among those additions.

That is according to Football.london journalist Alasdair Gold, who discussed Rodon’s future on the Gold & Guest Talk Tottenham YouTube channel.

“Joe Rodon will be heading off this summer, we wait to see where he’s going. I am intrigued to see whether he ends up at someone like Ipswich because I know Kieran McKenna is a big fan of him. I wonder whether that will be an option for him.”

Rodon to Ipswich would be a sobering transfer for Leeds fans

Nobody would begrudge Rodon a move to Ipswich this summer, given that he has more than earned the opportunity to play consistently in the top division.

However, it would be a tough pill for Leeds fans to take if Rodon played for the team that beat them to promotion.

Rodon appears to be a very excellent fit for what Ipswich are looking for in a centre-back, and he would most likely be available at a modest cost.

Unfortunately, we will be unable to compete with Premier League clubs here.
