Nottingham Forest signed Willy Boly to a new deal yesterday, putting an end to any doubt over his future.

The Ivory Coast defender has been tremendous towards the conclusion of the season and fully deserves the new contract.

Boly joined Forest in the summer of 2022 after leaving Wolves, and Nuno Espirito Santo brought him to Molineux.

Some may have been surprised by Forest’s decision to keep him at 33 years old, but his efforts have certainly deserved praise.

More information about his new arrangement has emerged, and it is somewhat shocking.

Fabrizio Romano delivers details on Willy Boly signing Forest contract

This is absolutely something worth noticing for Forest fans.

On a day when many fans felt Ola Aina should have been offered a longer contract at Forest, it appears Boly has options.

Fabrizio Romano reported on X that Boly has signed a one-year contract with the option to extend it until June 2026.

Boly is now 33, and it’s interesting that his contract includes a second option, but Aina’s does not.

Still, this is good news, as it puts an end to speculation that two cogs in Forest’s defense unit may be out of contract this summer.

Boly is a real City Ground leader

The issue for Boly at Forest has always been staying fit, which hopefully will happen next season.

Garth Crooks is a major fan of the tough defender, calling him ‘excellent’ following his performance against Sheffield United three weeks ago.

Who Scored demonstrates why Forest did well to keep Boly at the club.

In 2023/24, no center defender earned more headers than the Ivorian, who won 57 in his 20 games.

Despite playing far fewer minutes than some of the team’s other central defenders, he made 20 interceptions and assisted on 86 clearances.

Forest have lost a leader with Felipe’s retirement, but keeping Boly around means there will still be some influence in the dressing room next season – and beyond.
