Birmingham City’s upcoming opponents make a major decision before of Championship match
|Birmingham City travel to Yorkshire to face already relegated Rotherham United – and their opponents have made a huge change ahead of the match.
Birmingham City’s opponents, Rotherham United, have parted ways with manager Leam Richardson before of their Sky Bet Championship match at the weekend.
The hosts, who were demoted earlier this month, have chosen to break ways with their management. Richardson was sacked of his managerial duties two weeks after the club’s relegation to League One was confirmed. He only took over for Matt Taylor in December when he was fired, and he won only two of his 24 games in command.
A club statement reads: “Everyone at Rotherham United would like to thank Leam and Rob for all their efforts and wish them the best of luck in the future.”
“The search to appoint a new first team manager is already under way, with further communication to follow in due course.
“Rotherham United will be making no further comment at this time.”
Former Wolves midfielder Rob Kelly will also leave the club. Kelly started as an assistant head coach in mid-December. The 59-year-old previously worked with Richardson at Wigan Athletic, where they won League One.
