When Juan Soto joined the Yankees in the winter and transferred to the American League, things changed dramatically.
New city. A new ballpark. New teammates. And it meant he’d be making his first trip to Progressive Field.

After going 0-for-4 with a walk in the first game of Saturday’s doubleheader, Soto added another milestone to his MLB resume with a three-run home run in the second game, propelling the Yankees to an 8-2 victory and completing the doubleheader sweep.
The Yankees won the first game, 3-2.
Soto has now appeared in all 30 active MLB venues, homering in 26 of them. (He homered for the Padres in Mexico City in 2023.)
On Saturday, he hit a classic Soto home ball that traveled 408 feet to center field off Triston McKenzie, putting the Yankees up 6-0. He added two walks for good measure.
The Yankees scored two runs in the first inning on back-to-back walks from Anthony Volpe and Soto, which resulted in an RBI single from Anthony Rizzo and a bases-loaded walk to Giancarlo Stanton.
Prior to Soto’s mammoth blast, the Yankees scored a run in the fourth on Volpe’s RBI single.
Cody Poteet, who was summoned as the 27th man for the doubleheader, surrendered one run in six innings and earned his first win since May 23, 2021, when he was a member of the Marlins. He did not allow a walk and struck out four.
His one fault came in the fifth inning, when he allowed a solo home run to former Yankee Estevan Florial.
