Former Ipswich Town players James Scowcroft and Fabian Wilnis were welcomed into the club’s Hall of Fame tonight.
They played key roles in Town’s promotion to the Premier League in 2000, and they finished fifth in the league.
Scowcroft rose through the ranks at Town, making his senior debut in October 1995 and became a figure in the team for the next five years.
In total, he scored 55 goals in 257 appearances in all competitions for Town, and he was named player of the year when the club was promoted to the top flight in 2000.
Following his move to Leicester City in the summer of 2001, he returned to Portman Road for a brief loan stay in 2005, making nine more appearances.
Wilnis joined the Blues from Dutch club De Graafschap in January 1999 and instantly became a popular character at Portman Road.
He made 324 appearances for Town and scored six goals, including famous scores against Manchester United, Coventry, and Norwich City.
The Dutchman won the club’s player of the year title in 2005/06 before leaving at the end of the 2007/08 season and receiving a testimonial match for his efforts.
Both players attended the Former Players Association’s Hall of Fame Reunion Dinner at Portman Road this evening.
