Ipswich could sign EPL star on a swap-deal
|Ipswich Town have benefited greatly by signing Leif Davis.
Joining from Leeds United in 2022, the left-back has proven to be a wise acquisition, defending well for much of his time at Portman Road and becoming an even more valuable asset in the final third.
Registering numerous assists during his time under Kieran McKenna, it’s no surprise that he’s been able to play a significant role in guiding the Tractor Boys into the Championship play-offs, as they aim for back-to-back promotions.
He is one of numerous Ipswich players who could be sold for a large profit in the future, as Davis’ contract at Portman Road does not expire until the summer of 2025.
The Tractor Boys’ option to trigger an additional 12-month contract will further enhance the club’s negotiation position if bids come in during the summer window, although the left-back may still leave.
Premier League interest in Leif Davis.
According to talkSPORT, both Newcastle United and West Ham United are interested in signing the former AFC Bournemouth loanee.
The Magpies made a move for a Championship full-back in the summer, signing Tino Livramento from Southampton, so it’s no surprise that Eddie Howe’s team is looking back to the EFL.
Davis had previously spent time with Bournemouth, and Howe has close ties to the south coast club, so the Magpies’ manager may have been keeping an eye on the left-back for some time.
West Ham, meanwhile, are thought to be looking for a successor for Aaron Cresswell, and Davis may be a young option.
And TWTD has added Nottingham Forest to the ex-Leeds player’s list of admirers, which is not surprising given that Nuno Tavares is only on loan and is expected to return to Arsenal at the conclusion of the season.
