Gavin Hodgins, a striker for Shelbourne, will be investigated by Hull City, the Irish Mirror reported.

The young player has been invited to practise with Hull City for a week. AZ Alkmaar of the Netherlands and another Championship team Ipswich Town are also showing interest in him at the moment.

Shelbourne thinks highly of Hodgins, 18, but they are fighting to cling onto him. Earlier this year, the attacker received his first professional contract.

But according to the Irish Mirror’s most recent report on his circumstances, he is reportedly “bound” for MKM Stadium as the Tigers get ready to examine him more closely.

Hull to watch youngster

Hodgins, a young Republic of Ireland international, has already made seven appearances with Shelbourne’s first squad. At the age of sixteen, he made his stage debut.

The young player has put 16 goals on the board for the Reds’ Under-19 team this season, putting other teams on notice.

Acun Ilicali, the owner of Hull, took over at Tolka Park earlier this year, which will have helped the Tigers get an advantage over Ipswich and AZ Alkmaar in this specific transfer chase.

Young players Harry Wood and Will Jarvis have already been allowed to join the League of Ireland team on loan by Liam Rosenior’s team. Goalie Harry Fisk, meantime, was permitted to become a permanent member of the team.

Hull may view Hodgins as someone who may strengthen their attacking options in the future. The East Yorkshire team has been adding players like Tyrell Sellars-Fleming and Bora Aydınlık to their development squad in recent seasons.

This weekend, the Tigers’ first squad will play again at home against Southampton. They are just one point away from the playoffs.
