Chris Waddle, a former player for Sunderland, Burnley, and Newcastle United, is expected to make an unexpected comeback to the game.

Chris Waddle, a former player for Newcastle United and Sunderland, is predicted to make an unexpected comeback to football at the age of 62.

Waddle, who had a fantastic playing career and played for teams like Tottenham, Newcastle United, Burnley, Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday, and England, is good friends with Hallam FC, who are now dealing with an injury crisis in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

Furthermore, there have been hints that the 62-year-old former attacker would make an unexpected comeback to the field. Waddle’s last game with the team was in 2014.

Famous football writer Alan Biggs has speculated that Waddle would make a comeback for The Countrymen, who were forced to field ten men following yet another failure in Tuesday night’s Senior Cup loss to Stocksbridge Park Steels.

“Understand there is a strong possibility of Chris Waddle returning to semi-pro football two months short of his 63rd birthday,” Biggs wrote on Twitter following that tie. Amidst a persistent string of injuries, Hallam FC is thinking of issuing an SOS to the former England, Sheffield Wednesday, Tottenham Hotspur, and Newcastle United player.

Waddle is thought to not require much encouragement because he is a buddy of Hallam FC, which is ranked ninth in the pyramid. Never truly hung up his boots—at least six Hallam players are sidelined due to significant injuries. After the last evening, I had to play with ten men.”

In 1997, Waddle joined Sunderland, the team he had grown up rooting for, for a meager £75,000; he played seven games for the Black Cats before leaving.
