5-Star Wide Receiver Commits to Alabama

Following Saban’s retirement, one of the nation’s top receivers recommits to the Crimson Tide after previously decommitting.

Head coach of Alabama Kalen DeBoer has secured the commitment of five-star wide receiver Ryan Williams, marking the first significant recruiting victory of his time leading the Crimson Tide.

Many people believe that Williams is among the top wide receivers in the country. Prior to reclassifying and retaining his 5-star rating, he was a recruit in the 2025 recruiting cycle.

After former Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement, Williams momentarily left the Crimson Tide. Several schools, including Auburn and Texas, made a strong push for him in the period following his decommitment.

In November of last year, Williams participated in the 6A state championship game and experienced playing in Bryant-Denny Stadium for the first time. In the 31-28 loss, he caught 11 catches for 232 yards and two touchdowns, looking like the most unstoppable player on the field. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown.

Williams will undoubtedly be a huge boost to the Crimson Tide offense in 2024 when he joins Germie Bernard, a transfer from Washington, and returning wide receivers Kendrick Law, Kobe Prentice, and Jalen Hale, among others. With a potent offensive scheme that will make use of these talents, DeBoer and new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb have an abundance of outside talent at their disposal.

Williams released a video on Instagram and Twitter/X to announce his pledge, which includes images and footage from his most recent trip to Tuscaloosa, which he made last weekend.
