3 out and 4 doubts as Birmingham City face Leicester City

Birmingham City will look to maintain their momentum when they meet Leicester City at the King Power Arena in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.

On Easter Monday, the Blues triumphed 1-0 at St Andrew’s against Preston North End to relieve some of their pressure. Birmingham are now two points clear of the relegation zone, looking to avoid the bottom three under Gary Rowett.

On the other end of the table, Leicester City defeated Norwich City 3-1 at home. Enzo Maresca’s side are now in third place, one point behind Leeds United and two behind league leaders Ipswich Town.

Both teams need to win for their own reasons. Here’s the most recent injury and team news before the two managers appear at their pre-match press conferences.

Birmingham City team news

Marc Roberts has been dealing with a calf injury. He did not play during the Easter holiday, and his availability for the weekend is uncertain.

Alex Pritchard has met a similar end. He has missed the last three matches due to a knock. He returned to training in late March, and Gary Rowett will need to make a decision on him.

Oliver Burke may miss the balance of the campaign. Werder Bremen’s on-loan attacker has been out since January due to a muscular ailment.

Lukas Jutkiewicz will be out for a ‘long’ after injuring his ankle against Watford. Jutkiewicz has already been in relegation battles with the Blues, thus his absence will be noticed.

Birmingham has been without Alfie Chang for quite some time. He suffered a catastrophic injury in August and had to undergo surgery, forcing him to miss the entire campaign.

Leicester City team news

Tom Cannon missed the two Easter fixtures due to an injury sustained during the international break. He hasn’t featured for Leicester since March 2, when he was an unused replacement against Chelsea in the FA Cup.

Kasey McAteer, like Cannon, did not play either. He has not made the last six matchday squads.

Dennis Praet made a five-minute appearance in the victory over Norwich City. The Belgian was an unused replacement against Bristol City last Friday, missing the previous two games.

Ricardo Periera played both matches during Easter after missing the previous four. The 30-year-old has captained Leicester several times this season.
