What are the names of three Indianapolis Colts free agents who could depart this offseason? Michael Pittman Jr. is anticipated to sign a new contract with the team. This season, the fourth-year wide receiver caught 109 catches for 1,152 yards and four touchdowns.

Grover Stewart, a defensive tackle, is expected to stay. The fourth-round pick in 2017 is unquestionably one of the NFL’s best run-stoppers.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see cornerback Kenny Moore II and safety Julian Blackmon return. The Colts’ defensive secondary is their weakest link, so they can’t afford to lose those two.

Indy’s season ended with a heartbreaking 23-19 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 18. If the Colts had won that game, they would have captured the AFC South. Nonetheless, they were unable to complete the task and will miss the playoffs for the third straight year.

3 Indianapolis Colts Free Agents Who Might Not Return Next Season

Isaiah McKenzie

Isaiah McKenzie’s debut season with the Colts was in 2023. He joined the organization as a free agent after five years in Buffalo. He had 11 receptions for 82 yards as a wide receiver.

McKenzie was also the primary punt and kick returner for the club. He has 23 punt returns for 204 yards and six kick returns for 152 yards.

McKenzie, along with cornerback Tony Brown, were suspended for the rest of the season in December for unsportsmanlike conduct.

McKenzie had a solid season as a return specialist, but he is easily replaceable. The Colts are unlikely to re-sign him this offseason.

Zack Moss

Last season, the Colts acquired Zack Moss in a trade with the Buffalo Bills. They had no idea he’d have such an impact later in life.

Moss stepped up this season as top running back Jonathan Taylor was in and out of the lineup due to injury. He led Indianapolis in rushing yards with 794 and scored five rushing touchdowns, a career high. In addition, the former Utah Ute recorded 27 receptions for 192 yards and two touchdowns.

The Colts would undoubtedly welcome Moss’ return. He and Taylor, together with quarterback Anthony Richardson, would make an explosive running trio. However, Moss will almost certainly have offers to start from other teams. The Colts will not pay him or Taylor RB1 money. As a result, Moss might be playing for a different squad in 2024.

Gardner Minshew

Gardner Minshew, who spent the previous two seasons backing up Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, was signed by the Colts last offseason.

Minshew was also slated to be a backup in Indy. However, he was named starter after rookie quarterback Richardson sustained a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 5.

This season, Minshew passed for 3,305 yards and 15 touchdowns. While those aren’t very impressive figures, he was a crucial contributor to the Colts’ 9-8 season.

It makes perfect sense for the squad to re-sign Minshew. He serves as insurance in case Richardson is injured again. He’s also an excellent mentor.

Minshew, like Moss, may be offered a position elsewhere. That could make him too expensive to keep for the Colts.
