3 Blues Players To Depart This January As…

Max Bird of Derby County is admired by Birmingham City, and according to Darren Witcoop, Neil Etheridge, Emmanuel Longelo, and Scott Hogan are “up for grabs.”

Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City are getting ready for their first transfer window. The manager is hopeful that with the arrival of some of his own players, he will be able to mold the team and playing style to his liking after a disappointing start to his job.

It is possible that some of them leave St. Andrew’s through the exit doors in order for that to occur. Reporter Witcoop has already provided information on one potential target and three potential movers.

According to Witcoop’s article on X, Rooney and Birmingham City both have a lot of respect for Derby County midfielder Bird. However, the trio of Hogan, the left back, Longelo, and the goalkeeper Etheridge might be “up for grabs.”

During his tenure at Derby County, Rooney oversaw Bird, and according to an Alan Nixon story on Patreon, Sheffield Wednesday was interested in Hogan.

Ins and outs

For a manager taking over a new club, there will always be transfers in and out, and it seems that Rooney and Birmingham City are no exception. Considering the ownership’s goals, supporters should probably anticipate it as well.

Goalkeeper Etheridge has been John Ruddy’s backup, so if he were to leave, another would probably need to step in. Similarly, Longelo has shown signs of promise but hasn’t been able to get into the squad before summer addition Lee Buchanan.

If Hogan moves on too, Rooney might have a striker on his shopping list. Out of the available possibilities, veteran Lukas Jutkiewicz’s contract expires at the end of the season, Tyler Roberts hasn’t played much due to injury, while Jay Stansfield and Oliver Burke are only on loan at the Championship club.
