Former Spurs scout Bryan King has indicated that James Maddison may be left out of Tottenham’s Premier League match against Ipswich Town on Sunday.

King speculates that Maddison, a previous fan favourite who originally commanded the midfield brilliantly, may be “unhappy” with his current circumstances in North London. With only six goals in 14 games, Maddison’s performances have fallen short of the £170,000 per week contract, sparking concerns about his future role under Ange Postecoglou.

James Maddison was left out of Tottenham’s 4-1 Premier League win over Aston Villa on November 3, a decision that could be repeated this Sunday when Ipswich Town visits Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Despite starting in the Europa League against Galatasaray, Maddison’s choice to sit out has some support due to his recent form and limited effect.

Pundit believes Maddison to miss out for Tottenham v Ipswich Town

James Maddison’s recent form has failed to impress Tottenham’s management, with little influence in recent games. He struggled to impact play against Galatasaray and was substituted in the second half, reportedly looking frustrated.

According to veteran scout Bryan King of Tottenham Hotspur News, Maddison may need to improve his performances if he wants a continuous role in the Premier League lineup, particularly after missing the win over Aston Villa.

With Pape Matar Sarr’s recent performance, it looks Ange Postecoglou’s more calculating, defensive approach is aided by Sarr’s controlled, slower-paced playstyle. Maddison will have to fight for a spot back in the starting lineup.

The Pundit speaking to Exclusively to Tottenham News, stated

“I think Postecoglou was right to bring Maddison off,”

“However, Maddison looked unhappy with that decision as he came off the pitch. I think the lineup against Ipswich will depend on what injuries they’ve got.

“It doesn’t look as though there are any fresh concerns. Therefore, if everybody is fit, I think Maddison will struggle to get into the starting lineup.”
